Jackson State University is a public university that was established in 1877. The University is a historically black university, which is located in Jackson, Mississippi, United States. The university motto is "Challenging Minds, Changing Lives".
Through the school, including the College of Business, College of Science, Engineering and Technology, College of Liberal Arts, and the Faculty of Education and Human Development, the university offers a wide range of majors fields of study with various degree programs in it. Although the university has offered a range of courses, however, the most popular courses at the university is actually covering business marketing, education and interdisciplinary studies.
Not only offering learning activities in a university campus, the university offers a program called Online JSU. Where in the program is Jackson State's online educational platform, which gives students an opportunity to take classes and complete their degrees from a distance. The University has a campus area of nearly 150 hectares, with various types of buildings in it. One of the most famous buildings in this university is Ayer Hall, a building which was established in 1903, which is the oldest building on the university campus, and is listed in the National Registrar of Historic Places.
In addition to academic education, a lot of student activities at the university campus, for example, students can join the Prancing J-settes, which is the name of the university's dance line, which performs with its marching band, the Sonic Boom of the South. And the closest rival is Tennessee State University and Mississippi Valley State.
From the field of sports, there is an interesting story and a pride of one of the university's sports teams that occurred during the spring, where the Jackson State baseball team beat the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and claimed its first-ever win in a NCAA regional .
And for students who also wanted to show his achievements in sports other than baseball, can join the university sports teams. With a nickname the Tigers and the pride colors navy blue and white, the university's sports teams compete with other universities in the NCAA Division I athletics competition.
