University of Rochester is a private research university founded in 1850 is located at the University of Rochester, New York, United States.

The University offers more than 200 academic majors with alow major student to teacher ratio of 10: 1. Lectures at the university is held at various schools owned by, among others, the School of Arts and Science, School of Engineering and Applied Science, School of Music Lastman, Graduate School of Education and Human Resources Development Margaret Warner, School of Medicine and Dentistry, School of Nursing and the Graduate School William E. Simon Business administration.

In addition, the University of Rochester does not have any general education requirements; students choose a major out of three divisions available and enroll in a three-course thematic clusters in the two remaining areas. Often times, students find ways to double and even triple major.

The university also has a program, the Take Five Scholars Program, which with the program, allows students to study for an additional half year or in areas outside of Reviews their majors, with free tuition.

At this university there is an optical laboratory that was founded in 1929, which is the only educational program that was first intended for optical research. In addition to optical laboratories, there is also a laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) houses two of the world's most powerful high-energy and high-intensity lasers, OMEGA and OMEGA EP (extended performance).

To support arts education in campuses, in the university is also a museum of art, the Memorial Art Gallery houses an 18th century Italian Baroque organ, the only full-size antique Italian organ in North America.

Many achievements and awards that have been won by the university, including the Nobel Prize, the Pulitzer Prize, Guggenheim Fellowship.

With the mascot, the Yellowjacket, from the university's sports teams competing with other participants in the NCAA Division I competition.
