Lamar University is a public university founded in 1923 is located in Beamount University, Texas, USA, about 25 miles west of Louisiana and about 90 miles east of Houston.

The University offers 100 undergraduate majors courses, master's, and doctoral degrees. Not only that, the college also offers a program of the Texas Academy of Leadership in the Humanities, a program of scholarships given to students who are gifted. Students also reside in campus dormitories, commonly known as Cardinal Village.

At this university, students can join a campus organization, ie fraternities, sororities, and co-ed. Moreover, this university also offers student exchanges with universities in other countries.

Cardinals team, the university's sports teams, compete with other participants in the NCAA Division I competition.

There is a unique tradition that is popular at this university, which is the "L" Yell.
