Profileuniversity.com - Brigham Young University is a private research university located in Provo, Utah, United States. The university founded in 1875 by Brigham Young himself. Brigham Young University is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is part of the Church Educational System, which serves more than 1.2 million people in 144 countries around the world.

Through ten colleges has, among McKay School of Education, Fulton College of Engineering and Technology, College of Fine Arts and Communication, Faculty of Humanities, College of Nursing, and the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Brigham Young University offers bachelor's degrees in approximately 193 academic programs.

In addition to the services of educational activities on university campuses, Brigham Young University also provides study abroad program for its students. Brigham Young University has one of the largest study abroad programs in the nation and more than two thirds of students speak a second language, with more than 164 study abroad programs in 49 countries.

During warmer months, students camp out in Provo canyon-provided they do not camp with the opposite sex. This is because students are studying in these universities are expected to adhere to a strict Honor Code, the which prohibits premarital sex, alcohol and drug use. In fact, for boys, they are not allowed to maintain or grow a beard without permission from a doctor.

Dating is expected to lead to marriage at Brigham Young University, according to the university's information and surveys that have been conducted, 51% of the graduating class of 2005 was married. Traditionally, students buy ice cream for those who have experienced their first kiss and steak for those who just got engaged.

Brigham Young University has produced many alumni who have been successful in their respective fields, including among them is Mitt Romney, who graduated in 1971 and author Orson Scott Card, who also graduated in 1975.

Of non-academic activities, especially sports, Brigham Young University has several sports clubs which consists of a team of men and women's teams are known as the Cougars, as well as the school's mascot, dubbed the Cosmo Cougars.
