Profileuniversity.com - Humboldt State University is a public university located high in Arcata, Humboldt County, California, United States, approximately 250 Miles north of San Francisco. The University was founded in 1913 as a teaching college and is the northernmost school in the California State University system.Through colleges and schools, including the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; College of Natural Resources and Life Sciences; and the College of Professional Studies, Humboldt State University offers 49 different types of bachelor's degree programs. Although studies have provided a wide range of majors, but popular majors are much taken by students at Humboldt include biology, business administration and wildlife.To meet the demand for housing students, the university has also provided a dorm or campus housing. Where residential campus in Humboldt Divided into themed houses of like-minded students, such as the Colony of the Arts and the Eco-Living Community.There is one annual event in this university which has been started since 1967, the annual Humboldt Film Festival. Today, the festival is one of the nation's oldest student-run movie festivals.As a form of concern for the environment and to encourage students to be mindful of their environmental impact, Humboldt State University students set up the optional Graduation Pledge of Social and Environmental Responsibility, which was formally established in 1987.In addition to academic activities on campus classes, the university also provides a wide range of non-academic activities through the organization or sororities. Students can join and participate in more than 180 university clubs, including seven active Greek chapters.One of the active clubs at the university are also much in demand by the students is a sports club. Humboldt State University has several sports teams of men and women known as the Lumberjacks, which competes with sports teams from other universities in the NCAA Division II athletic competition.
