University of New Orleans or commonly abbreviated as UNO, officially founded in 1958 and is a member of the University of Louisiana System. UNO campus, located on the former New Orleans Naval Air Station, one of the last remaining structures from the base is a brick smokestack that is now part of the alumni and visitor center.Through five colleges and schools, including the College of Business Administration, College of Education and Human Development, College of Liberal Arts, College of Sciences, and Faculty of Engineering, UNO offers 41 undergraduate students and 36 graduate programs. And in August 2012, the United Nations announced that the Privateer will join the Southland Conference, effective since the beginning of the academic year 2013-2014.
