Profileuniversity.com - Claflin University is a private liberal arts university located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, United States. The University is a historically black university founded in 1869 by Methodist missionaries and affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Claflin University was the first institution of higher education to accept students Regardless of race or gender in South Carolina. In addition to establishing Claflin University, one of the founders, Lee Claflin, also founded Boston University.

Through school and college today, students can choose from more than 35 undergraduate majors that have been offered, including a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Biotechnology. Students also can choose among three dual-degree programs are also offered by this university, programs in engineering with Clemson University, engineering technology with SCSU, and biology / public health with USC.

And according to information from the university, for Claflin who graduates complete the ROTC program (a cross-enrollment agreement with South Carolina State University) may be commissioned as second lieutenants in the US Army.

One very popular student organization at the university is the Claflin University Concert Choir, which has many achievements and pride for the university. Where on one occasion in 2011, they performed at the inauguration of Gov. Nikki Haley. Not only that, in November of 2012, they also appear to demonstrate their abilities in the field of sound art in Handel's Messiah at the Stevenson Auditorium.

Other organizations are also no less active and much in demand by students at this university is a sport activity. Students can join in a variety of university sports clubs to develop their talent and potential in sports. Claflin University has several varsity sports teams are nicknamed as the "Panthers or Lady Panthers". The Panthers are a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference of the NCAA Division II athletics, sports competition between universities.
