University known as nicknamed a "Little Ivy" , is famous for having Internationalism and study abroad programs. Tufts University was founded in 1852 by Christian Universalist.

Through colleges and schools, including the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering, School of Dental Medicine, School of Medicine, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service, Tufts University offers a wide range of majors studies with various academic degree programs in it.

According to the university, almost 90% of students are enrolled in the School of Arts and Sciences and some 10% are in the School of Engineering. And nearly 50% of students are abroad to follow a study abroad program that also has been offered by the university, with sponsored programs in Chile, China, Ghana, Oxford and Paris, among other places.

There are some statues of elephants buildings located within the university campus which is also the mascot of the university as well as being part of the tradition of the university, where each Halloween students secretly place pumpkins on their tusks around midnight. One of the other activities that have taken place in university since 1980 is a Spring Fling concert, which at the show, showcasing successful such as Lupe Fiasco acts, the Decemberists and Drake.

There is a pride of university when the university flag orbited the Earth 127 times aboard a space shuttle astronaut and alumnus with Frederick Hauck, which occurred in 1984.

In addition to offering academic programs, students can also join and participate in academic activities through the organization and sororities, especially sports activities. With mascot, nicknamed Jumbo the elephant, Tufts University has a university sports teams that compete with sports teams from other universities in the NCAA Division III athletic competition.
